Indian music fans today celebrate the birth anniversary of one of the greatest Indian guitarists - Ehsaan Noorani. Risen to fame as a third of the legendary trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Noorani is a master of the instrument in his own right.
Noorani studied at the Musicians Institute, California for a year. After returning to India, he worked as the guitarist for many music directors before he himself started composing music. After a few years, the trio formed and were set to debut for the film ‘Dus’. However, due to the director’s untimely death, the film was never released. What followed was a series of hits which created the musical zeitgeist of 2000s Bollywood, numbers that we now look fondly back on with immense nostalgia.
Ehsaan's musical landscape, his vast knowledge - musical & technical - and an ability to instantly create tonal shifts which interweave in and out of chord changes, contribute immensely to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy songs and arrangements.
Happiest Birthday Maestro, we look ahead for all that you have in store for us!
