The Voice of India – Lata Mangeshkar

Lata ji's demise has created a abyss in the Indian music industry. Not only she was a stalwart singer, she was humble, polite, warm and loving with a golden heart. Lata didi as India fondly called her, was a fighter from her childhood days. She started acting in musical plays from the tender age of five and recorded her first marathi song at 13 years of age. Her father died when she was 13, and hence had to fen for her 5 siblings all alone. She tried to meet ends by taking up other jobs than singing such as she acted in 8 movies until 1948. She had her own struggles when she started singing and was also told that her voice was to thin. However, all these hardships did not deter her from charting her own path in Indian film industry.

She worked on her art and created melodious gems which are timeless and precious in centuries to come. Her void will always remain however she'll always be a shining star in our hearts via her songs and her divine presence. Funk Beat School of Music and its entire team pays a heartfelt respect and homage to Lata di who'll always remain a legend in our hearts. As one of her popular rightly portrays "Meri awaaz hi pehchaan hai"
